주용성은 창동이라는 장소가 지닌 역사적 층위와 지역 정체성에 주목한다. 작가는 구술, 문헌을 토대로 사라진 장소의 흔적들을 수집하고 사진으로 재구성함으로써, 도시개발로 인해 지워진 기억과 시간을 복원하는 장소 기반적 실천을 수행한다. 그의 작업은 '창동'이라는 지명의 유래와 북한산성과의 연관성, 주민의 개인적 기억을 교차시켜, 장소가 단지 행정적 단위가 아닌 서사와 사람이 중첩된 공간임을 드러낸다.
Joo Yongseong focuses on the historical strata and local identity of Chang-dong, the museum's location. Through oral histories and archival research, he traces the remnants of lost places, reconstructing them through photography. His work intertwines the etymology of Chang-dong, its historical ties to Bukhansanseong Fortress, and the personal memories of local residents, presenting place not as administrative space but as a narrative structure layered with memory.
