교각들 Line of Piers

서울시립 북서울미술관에서 진행 중인 《일렉트릭 쇼크》의 참여 작가 교각들의 인터뷰를 공개합니다.

이번 인터뷰는 출품작의 구체적 맥락을 살피는 동시에, “전기 공급이 중단된다면 미디어 아티스트로서 상상하는 미래는 어떤 모습인가?”라는 질문을 중심으로 이야기를 나누었습니다.

작가는 우리의 유희를 위해 끊임없이 제공되는 전기 공급 체제가 과연 지속 가능한지 되물으면서, 전기가 사라지기 직전의 불안과 그 이후 도래할 재난적 상황을 상상하는 작품을 제작했음을 이야기합니다. 나아가 종말 이후에도 이어질 ‘사람들 간의 대화’를 떠올리면서, ‘규칙’, ‘게임 디자인’이 인터랙티브 작품의 본질로서 남을 것이라 예견했습니다.

교각들의 작품은 오는 3월 22일까지 서울시립 북서울미술관 전시실 1과 전시실 3에서 만나보실 수 있습니다. 많은 관심을 바랍니다.

We are pleased to share an interview with Line of Piers, participating artists in ？？？？？？？？？？？？？？？？ ？？？？？？？？？？, currently on view at Buk-Seoul Museum of Art.

This interview explores the specific context of their work while also centering on the question: “As media artists, how do you imagine the future if the supply of electricity were cut off?”

Line of Piers reflect on whether the system of continuous electricity, endlessly supplied for our enjoyment, can be sustained. They reflect on creating works that explore the anxiety just before electricity is cut off and the catastrophic conditions that may follow. At the same time, they envision conversations that would continue even after the end of the world, suggesting that “rules” and “game design” would remain fundamental to interactive works.

Works by Line of Piers can be viewed in Gallery 1 and Gallery 3 at Buk-Seoul Museum of Art through March 22.
