[프렛(FRET)]

〈FRET〉은 네 대의 거문고와 한 대의 기타로 구성된 팀이다. 팀명인 〈FRET〉은 거문고로 음을 짚을 때 사용하는 ‘괘’의 영문 명칭과 기타에서 같은 역할을 하는 프렛을 동시에 나타내는 단어로, 거문고와 기타의 조화를 통해 펼쳐질 음악을 직관적으로 표현하는 이름이다. 개성 있는 연주자들이 모여 각각의 소리를 분산시키고 합하는 과정을 반복하며 시각적으로, 그리고 청각적으로 신비로운 하모니를 만들어낸다.

"FRET" is an ensemble featuring four geomungos and one guitar. The name "FRET" cleverly embodies the 'gwae' used in geomungo for note plucking and the similar-functioning frets on a guitar. This name aptly symbolizes the musical harmony born from the fusion of geomungo and guitar. The ensemble's distinctive musicians artfully weave together and apart their individual sounds, crafting a mesmerizing harmony that captivates both visually and aurally through a dynamic process of merging and diverging.

시선이 닿는 곳마다 온통 눈으로 뒤덮인 설경은 고요하고 아름다웠지만, 한편으로는 서늘했다. 모든 것이 얼어붙은 겨울 한복판에 덩그러니 놓였기 때문일까. 하지만 봄은 오기 마련이기에 무엇이든 새로이 시작되리라는 어렴풋한 희망을 그 서늘함의 한켠에서 느낄 수 있었다. 그저 눈을 보러 막연히 찾아갔던 홋카이도 비에이(美瑛)에서의 체험을 거문고와 기타를 통해 음악에 담아보았다.

Every vista was blanketed in a tranquil and stunning snowscape, casting a serene yet chilling spell. This might have been due to the deep freeze enveloping everything in winter's grasp. Yet, within this chill lingered a subtle hope of spring's arrival, bringing with it the promise of new beginnings. This musical piece captures the essence of a spontaneous journey to Biei in Hokkaido, initially inspired by the allure of snow, and translates that experience into the harmonious sounds of the geomungo and guitar.

〈세빛섬 Sebitseom〉

공식 명칭은 ‘떠 있는 섬’이라는 뜻인 ‘플로팅 아일랜드(Floating Island)’이며, 2006년 9월 서울특별시에서 추진한 ‘한강 르네상스 프로젝트’의 일환으로 계획되었다. 2011년 ‘세빛둥둥섬’으로 확정하고 2014년 ‘세빛섬’으로 명칭을 변경하면서 시설을 전면 개방하였다. 한글 명칭의 ‘세빛’은 빛을 겹칠 때 가장 많은 색깔을 만들어내는 삼원색(빨강·파랑·초록)을 뜻하는데 3개의 섬이 조화를 이루어 한강과 서울을 빛내라는 바람을 담고 있고, ‘둥둥’은 수상에 띄워진 문화공간을 강조하는 의미를 담고 있다.

Known officially as “Floating Island,” Sebitseom was conceived as a key component of the 'Han River Renaissance Project', launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in September 2006. Initially named “Sebit Floating Island” in 2011, its name evolved to “Sebitseom” in 2014, coinciding with the full public opening of its facilities. The name “Sebit” in Korean represents the three primary colors - red, blue, and green - which, when combined, produce a myriad of hues. This symbolizes the aspiration for the three islands to collectively brighten the Han River and Seoul. The term “floating” emphasizes its unique characteristic as a cultural space set afloat on water.
