아모레 퍼시픽 사옥은 지하 7층과 지상 22층 규모의 거대한 큐브 형태로 2017년에 지어진 건물입니다. 용산 공원의 연장선으로 건물 1층의 문을 사방으로 내고 아트리움을 만들어 직원들뿐만 아니라 지역 주민들에게도 휴식을 제공합니다. 내부 공간은 하늘에서 떨어지는 빛으로 숭고함마저 들게 하고, 외부의 반투명 유리인 브리즈 솔레이유(Brise-Soleil)는 눈부심 없이 내부의 빛을 받아들이게 합니다. 유리 앞 촘촘하게 설치된 루버는 건축물의 무게감을 더해줍니다. 건축 파사드 3면을 크게 열어 만든 공중 정원도 있습니다.

Amore Pacific company building was built in the form of a huge cube with 7 stories below the ground and 22 stories above ground in 2017. As an extension of Yongsan Park, the doors on the first floor of the building were opened in all directions to create an atrium, providing relaxation for not only employees but also local residents. Indoor space gives sublimity with the light dropped from the sky, and the Brise-Soleil, translucent glass outside enables to receive the inner light without glare. The densely installed louvers in front of the glass add the weight to the building. There is also a public garden made with large openings on three sides of the architectural facade.

복잡한 도시를 보고 있으면 마음이 시끄럽다가도 네모반듯한 무색의 거대 건축물을 올려다보면 마음이 이내 고요해집니다. 건축물이 마치 신전 같아 보입니다. 건축가 데이비드 치퍼필드는 이런 건축 요소들로 기업 철학과 가치를 담아냈습니다. 아모레 퍼시픽 사옥은 지어진 후 한국건축문화대상뿐만 아니라 AIA UK Award 등 여러 건축상을 받은 우수한 건축물입니다.

Watching complex city makes the mind unstable, but looking up at the square, colorless huge building makes the mind silent. The building looks like a temple. Architect David Chipperfield captured corporate philosophy and values with these architectural elements. The Amore Pacific company building is an excellent building that won not only the Korea Architecture and Culture Awards but also various architectural awards such as the AIA UK Award.
