[앙상블 시작(詩作) Ensembel Sizak]

시작(詩作)은 시를 바탕으로 음악을 만들고 연주하는 정가 창작 앙상블이다. 

2020년부터 시조를 노래하는 전통 가곡방식의 맥을 이어, 과거부터 현대까지의 좋은 시를 가사로 음악을 창작하고 사람들과 소통하고자 노력하고 있다. 정가의 전통음악어법과 국악기, 서양악기 등 다양한 음색을 융합하여 새로운 음향을 만드는 것을 지향한다. 

Sizak is an ensemble that composes and plays original pieces of classical vocal music, drawing upon poetry. 

In order to carry on the legacy of traditional vocal music where sijo poems are used, the band has, since 2020, composed music with lyrics derived from best poems of all times and has interacted with the audiences. Sizak has been seeking to create new sounds by combining the grammar of classical vocal music with various tones of both Korean traditional musical instruments and Western instruments.

[곡소개 Work Description]

사랑을 사자하니 If I buy myself a love

‘사랑을 사자하니’는 여창 가곡 환계락의 제 3바탕 대목으로 평조로 시작해서 3장에서 계면조로 조가 바뀌는 반우반계의 곡이다. 사랑을 살 수도, 이별을 팔 수도 없어 긴 사랑과 긴 이별을 하고 있음을 노래하는 시조로 하프와 피아노 반주의 편곡을 통해 반우반계의 특징과 정가 선율의 기승전결을 뚜렷하게 보여주고자 하였다.

“Even If You Want to Buy Love” is the third part of “Hwangyerak,” which is a “gagok” (a genre of lyric song cycles) song typically sung by women and has a “banubangye” style, i.e., it begins with a “pyeongjo” scale and turns into a “gemyeonjo” scale in the third part. The lyrics of the piece is based on a “sijo” (a Korean traditional poetic form) that sings of the long-lasting love and separation of people who cannot buy love or sell separation. With the accompaniment of the harp and the piano, the piece clearly shows the characteristics of the banubangye style as well as the beginning-continuation-transition-conclusion structure of the tunes of Korean classical vocal music.

사랑 팔 이 뉘 있으며 

이별을 파자하니 

이별 살 이가 뉘 있으리

사랑 이별을 팔고 살 이 없으니

장사랑 장이별인가 하노라.

Even if you want to buy love, 

Who would sell it

Even if you want to sell your separation, 

Who would buy it

As no one would sell love or buy separation,

Love lasts long and so does separation.

[장소 Location]

환산정 Hwansanjeong

환산정(環山亭)은 전라남도 화순군 동면 서성리에 있는 조선 후기 류함이 축조한 누정이다. 2007년 1월 5일 화순군의 향토문화유산 제35호로 지정되었다. 현재 서성저수지 안에 위치해 있으며, 다른 누정과 달리 물 위에 떠 있는 것처럼 보이는 것이 특징이다.

Located at Seoseong-ri, Dong-myeon, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, Hwansanjeong is a pavilion built by Ryu Ham during the late Joseon Dynasty. On January 5, 2007, the building was designated as Local Cultural Heritage No. 35 in Hwasun-gun. Hwansanjeong is situated within Seoseong Reservoir and looks as if it were floating on the water.
